I watched the trailers to "Knight and Day" a couple times, and itlooked so dumb. The previews really didn't do it justice and because ofthat, I wasn't planning on seeing this movie at all. Then my parentsbought it for Christmas and my family wanted to sit down and watch thismovie. I decided to watch it, just to get it over with. After watching"Knight and Day", I must say it is a really good action movie. It's gota great plot, great characters, and is very clean, which you don't seein very many Hollywood movies anymore. It's definitely a movie I wouldwatch over and over again. I would highly recommend "Knight and Day" toanyone.

At first glance, Knight and Day seems like yet another predictableaction-cross-romantic comedy with two of Hollywood's biggestnames…well, it is but there's more to it than meets the eye. The storydoesn't really have any meaning to it or have any importance of somekind but it does the job of entertaining you and killing some time. SoKnight and Day is about June, played by Diaz, whose life unexpectedlychanges because of Roy, played by Cruise, who is being hunted down bythe FBI because he's been suspected of going rogue. Add gunfights,explosions and round-the world chases to the mix and you have the bestaction-cross-romantic comedy movie of the summer. Tom Cruise andCameron Diaz return on screen for the second time together sinceVanilla Sky in Knight and Day which is nothing more than anentertaining action popcorn flick that's bound to make you smile even alittle bit. Tom Cruise returns in top action form as rogue spy Roy andCameron Diaz makes for some great entertaining viewing as June. Thepair make a great and believable duo and the chemistry between Cruiseand Diaz is what really makes this movie stand out from the otheraction-romcoms movies this year.

Knight and Day isn't only funny but it also shows off some brilliantaction scenes that will entertain and have you on the edge of yourseat. While the movie doesn't really have character development or asolid plot, it works quite well as Diaz and Cruise make the movie withtheir characters. The movie is quite silly in some areas such as thescenes when June constantly gets drugged and some of the lines thecharacters say but it adds a certain charm to the movie so it's not abad thing. The director, James Mangold who has directed movies such as3:10 to Yuma, Walk The Line and Girl Interrupted, has done a great jobin balancing the comedy with action and handles it superbly. Thewriting is good as it cleverly skips through the slow parts and startsbefore the action, which is done when Roy drugs June whenever shebecomes a danger to herself. Also, the script can deliver some funnylines but there were times when it became a little tedious such as theFBI scenes. There are some laughs to be had in Knight and Day and it'spretty much for both action movie fans and romantic comedy fans.

So Knight and Day is yet another action-cross-romantic movie Hollywoodhas offered lately, so let's look at the competition. We've had TheBounty Hunter, which starred Gerard Butler and Jennifer Aniston andwe've had Killers, which starred Katherine Heigl and Ashton Kutcher.The Bounty Hunter is instantly forgettable as soon as it ends andKillers is just terrible so Knight and Day is easily the best out ofthem all as it was actually funny. There's a little something foreverybody in this movie. Whether you like romance movies, action moviesor comedy movies, you'll like Knight and Day.

June (Cameron Diaz) gets bumped. Three times, no less. She's at theairport and a handsome stranger, Roy (Tom Cruise), collides with hertwice while she is making her way to the boarding gate. Huh. Then, shegets bumped from her flight to Boston, where she is to try on herbridesmaids gown for sissy's wedding. Unbelievable, she is given aticket to another flight, which also happens to include Roy. There arevery few other passengers so the two engage in a "getting to know you"conversation. Yet, when June heads to the restroom, all heck breakslose, with Roy killing the entire run of passengers and flight crew.Whatsa up? Well, as Roy explains to a terrified June, once she gets outof the can, he's a secret U.S. spy and his agency is out to get him,for they believe he is a traitor. Roy lands the plane roughly in acornfield and drugs June to clean up the mess and get her back home.But, things don't end there. The government agents, includingFitzgerald (Peter Sarsgaard) and his boss (Viola Davis), are stillafter Roy and now want June, too. A new invention and its younginventor are also targets, items Roy is trying to protect. Roy makes itclear to June that if she joins him, she might live but, otherwise shewill be in constant jeopardy. Hopping planes, trains, automobiles, andmotorcycles, and going from country to country in Europe, will this newduo stay kicking and breathing? And, will love spring forth between theagent and his damsel in distress? Wow, this film was a real kick, itwas sooooo much fun, and this viewer is sorry she didn't buy a ticketsooner. Cruise, by the way, looks and acts great in a role that mimicsJames Bond but is far quirkier. Diaz, too, is fun as the lady caught ina web of intrigue and Sarsgaard, Davis, and all of the others do a finejob, also. Also adding to the film's enormous pleasure is the knockout,gorgeous settings and the clever, inspired editing. One would find itdifficult to locate a movie with better scenery or camera work in 2010.Of course, the costumes, polished script and energetic direction arebig bonuses as well. To be brief, make your night a blast and rent orbuy Knight and Day. What a way to chase away life's deep blues!
