I really hope that more films like Red will be made in the followingyears. I knew I had to see this after I checked the payroll.

Red laughs at action films right in the face. Bruce Willis laughs athimself a few time. To be honest, so does the rest of the cast.

It's a simple story in which all the characters are described by thefirst scene they appear in and it's so damn enjoyable to watch. Youdon't expect the movie to be anything more than fun. The plot is plainsimple, but the way it's executed gives it air to breathe.

A few more twists would be nice, a bit more of Malkovich too. But Idon't regard these issues as flaws. The would have only contributed tothe overall movie reception, not it's essence.

The cast, the obvious winks, the effects (with really big winks) andthe lightness of the whole picture (you expect fun and it delivers)makes Red a film worth watching. Maybe not buying a DVD, but surelyrenting it for a while.

7/10 A group of retired CIA operatives, mixed with MI6 and KGB retireeswho are all targets of a mass-assassination plot...ommmmmmm...How couldit be? I have enjoyed myself and my family with it. It's have BruceWillis' cool persona and look, A very lovely Morgan Freeman(73 years ofage one of the greatest Hollywood Icons of all time), Funny JohnMalkovich (the scene that he had a Bomb and a big childish clock on hischest yelling, screaming and running) Helen Mirren (65 years of age andone of the literal "Queens" of Hollywood) and a good story and veryvery well directing and shooting. Brucie, we all understand. His lastcouple of action comedies have been disappointing though so a realreturn to form is most welcome, Hail to the King, Baby! You will getplenty of laughs with the action here, definitely definitely worth alook. Retired Extremely Dangerous ...

You know what's the worst thing about this movie ? It's the movieitself !

This is shockingly not up to its potentials. I love these stars (Theychose them all top class), this formula (Old seven samurai; WAW!), butthe outcome can't be more disappointing.

The script is a confused little summary of never happened great action.There are many missing links. You'll ask, for all the first 2 thirds,what's the story of the murdered reporters that they're yapping about ?Hiding its facts for all that time wasn't for the sake of any thrill.We didn't even get to see their killings (????). The scene at thelibrary is so vague, with someone killed but you'll never understandwho? Speaking about vague; How (Freeman) knew the place of (Malkovich)and (Willis) after he got away from his killer?? (Karl Urban), theharsh CIA operative tasked in finding the leads, turns into theopposite and kills his boss at the end; if that was for being afraid of(Willis)'s threat to his family, then it's damn predictable, and if itwas his political faith got changed in the nick of time; then you'llnever know why ! And seriously what kind of movie that doesn't show usthe real evil man until the last 10 minutes? (to do absolutely nothingeither !). I know. It's a weak movie, with tepid duel. So I watchedsome people getting shot at, doing some things, not that bright though,fighting unseen enemy, for reasons we hardly understand !

The characters are so lame. For instance, the leads; what's particularabout them in the first place? In a movie named (The Chronicles ofRiddick) the lead, (Van Diesel), kills a man with a cup of tea, thistime don't wait for something like this or remotely similar. Becausewhile the movie brags of its so-called legendary team, I wasn't pushedto rise an eyebrow during the whole time, not saying for once "How theydid this ?!". We have only 3 sequences of action (the one in the first,the fight at the CIA, and the kidnapping at last) with zero superintelligent or "Extremely Dangerous" stuff ! Remember how (MorganFreeman) dies?! It was provocatively easy. It makes you wonder; sothat's how these high profile agents act ?!!

The dialog has no touchy or funny line. Not to mention being veryidiot. Contemplate a moment like when (Brian Cox) is talking to(Willis) after the kidnapping of the last's girl. He says things abouthow crazy we become when we're in love, and recalls how his own love,(Helen Mirren), shot him in the chest for her CIA once. Accordingly,what's the connection between the 2 situations for god's sake ?!! Doeshe mean that she was crazy in love with her country ?! Or does he referto (Willis) to shot his own girlfriend in the chest ??!!. And inearlier moment, after the kidnapping itself, the supposedly wicked linethat ends the scene, concerning the reuniting of the flame between thisRussian man and that English lady, is said by (Willis)?? How to smile,throwing jokes, right after your love was grabbed and disappeared ???(The character played by Malkovich, standing in the same scene, is theone who should have said it !).

(Bruce Willis) looks more like a robot. He turned from cool into cold,reusing ALL of his reactions from his old movies again and again yet socarelessly (sometimes I noticed that he gives the wrong reactions forthe scene!). He delivers what we can name as the sleepwalking versionof John McClane, or his most Charles Bronson performance ever. Enoughto say that watching him was soooooo boring, instead of fun ! Over andabove; he plays a role that I highly doubt it was written for olderperson. Did you notice remarks like "he retired because he got old", or"grandpa" ?!

This movie adds nothing to (John Malkovich), and he adds nothing to iteither. HE DID IT FOR THE MONEYYYYYYY ! Yes, but at least it could havebeen entertaining along the way. His character has to be the comicrelief, the nut, or let's say the older copy of The A-Team's (H.M.Murdock). However he was useless. It was pathetic to follow a finetalent like him doing that poorly poorly written material.

And please, (Mary Louise Parker) deserves a Razzie, a BIG one. She hasno charisma, no acting talent, no comic ability, being very annoyingand silly. Maybe in another movie she would be less worse, but HERE shegot to have the WORST no less !

The survivors : (Brian Cox). Aside from being great actor apart, the"feelings", that his character won, made him human, consequentlymemorable. Somehow you can say that again about the 93-year-old (ErnestBorgnine) in his cameo as the X-files keeper, evoking the old realmen-on-a-mission movies such as (The Dirty Dozen) and (The Wild Bunch).Watch how (Willis) regards him, in real passion, at one scene. Althoughthe few action sequences weren't that great, occupying just 10 % of themovie, but thank god for them, otherwise it would have been completelyunwatchable !

Apparently the script did interesting first 10 minutes and last 10minutes, while making a long dull second act in between. And as a wholeit's deprived of anything new or creative. Why, in Hollywood nowadays,they give time for everything except the script? That's a deadly sinthis movie suffers from and dies due to it !

The conclusion : one of the worst of its kind. And compared to its listof stars, embarrassing too. In a word…The trailer is way better !
