Saw 3D

Saw 3D poster

As a deadly battle rages over Jigsaw's brutal legacy, a group of Jigsaw survivors gathers to seek the support of self-help guru and fellow survivor Bobby Dagen, a man whose own dark secrets unleash a new wave of terror.

Critics opinions:

This movie as expected was a real low standard. I expected a lot fromthis final chapter but was really really highly disappointed with theend. There was as such no role of Doctor Gordon as well. The moviedidn't connected to all previous parts at all..

highly disappointing ending!!!

At least I was expecting there would be more conceptual ending of themovie but felt really sorry for watching the series after part 3.

Basically Saw series should have been ended after the 3rd part. Therewas no use of making additional parts. Basic series was fun with Jack.

Anyways I would just say it wasn't worth watching. The director seemedto wind up the movie in a hurry.

And this was the most stupid step I must say to take as extending themovie length wouldn't have cost them anything extra.

The Saw series lost it's grip in this last part. I was a gr8 big fan ofSaw series but got fed-up after the 3rd part.

The traps were good but they didn't make any sense. As Hoffman was alsonot supposed to be safe in the second last part.

This was useless. Hoffman also didn't play a good role in the finalchapter.

total waste of time I must say!!!

Not putting a number after the title (I do not count the "3" in 3D as anumber) might only be a marketing trick, but who does not have heard ofthe Saw franchise really? Then they call it the last one. The one toend the Saw franchise. And they mean that in a good way. You stillcannot stop but wonder if they would have considered this, if a littlemovie called Paranormal Activity did not steal their thunder in 2009(which might also be a reason the movies got released with a weekin-between them in the US).

But lets stay focused with this one. I did expect a bit more after theend of the sixth part (yes it does make sense to have seen all theother movies before that, though the makers say, it is enough to watchjust a few, like the first one). Actually that story could have beenthe central theme. But instead it is almost sidelined by another story. You might feel like you have seen those things before (one way oranother this is true), but the 3-D effect(s) might save the day foryou. Unless you really wanna know how it ends ... or does it?

I've been a Saw fan for years now. From watching the originalmasterpiece downright to the most recent, I can admit it was aroller-coaster ride...but with bumps along the way.

For me the first 3 movies were good. Their twists were great and thestoryline plausible. The 4th one wasn't bad but the producers werealready relying heavily on traps stretching their Saw philosophy faraway from the original psychological thriller. The 5th was simply crap. The 6th gained back some of the lost ground but still the story wasfeeding on traps: a curse that sealed Saw's series fate. The 7th...wellnot much fresh stuff had been put on board making the movie usunintelligible as its predecessors.

In short, the whole demented journey started smartly enough with 2persons trying to save each other to an idiotic carnage that was onlyallowed to be made if people died in barbaric traps.

The storyline never resurfaced high above the ground making Saw 3Danother good excuse to make some more bucks. The truth is that thefinal chapter sucks and Bobby Degan's situation (an echo of Jeff fromSaw 3, Rigg from Saw 4 and William from Saw 6) is completely forced tomake the movie 90 minutes long. I thought that Chester from Linkin Parkwas going to have an impressive role, but I won't speak a lot aboutit...also the producers said that Chad Donella was going to leave amark in the movie. What were they exactly hinting at by that? Chad is agood actor but here, he's only role was to keep the police on the show.Frankly, I watched the movie with interest only when Jill, Hoffman andDr Gordon had their screen time.

On a positive note, this threesome continued to work on their owncharacter as the scared and pitiful Jill, the killing machine Hoffman, and the mysterious Gordon. The climax, although it was predictable fromSaw 2, is what makes the film worth watching, and absolutely nothingelse. There was no big twist but it worked out nicely. It was the firsttime in my life to see a standing ovation in the theater after a horrormovie ended! However I won't say this is the end yet. Unfortunatelywe're left with a question when Hoffman blows up the house of horrors.Who saw the movie will understand.

In the end next Halloweens will miss Saw. In my opinion it's betterthis way.

I don't know what some of the reviewers moan so much about...This isthe type of movie that follows the motto "Expect the unexpected"...In away I am upset with myself because a lot of time I have avoidedwatching a movie with a low rating on IMDb...For me this was prettyexciting...the traps were innovative, some of the scenes wereincredible, the performance was pretty good especially by CostasMandylor, the music was really nice... I sure hope there will be an 8thsequel, because this series are really original, clever scenery, nothing what is what it seems... Normally it should be an 8th sequel, because to many things are left unfinished...

"Saw 3D" is, in my opinion, the best film in the series since theoriginal. After semi-decent efforts (parts "IV," "V" and "VI,"chiefly), the series goes out on a rather horrifying note in thislatest blood-/torture-fest. Other than serving up many new trapsdesigned to mutilate people in horrifying and disgusting ways, "Saw 3D"seems most closely tied to events (through the use of flashbacks) inthe first "Saw," which came out all the way back in 2004.

As we left off in "Saw VI," there is a bloody battle of wills eruptingfor control of the late serial killer Jigsaw's (Tobin Bell) legacybetween Jigsaw's latest pupil Agent Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) andJigsaw's widow Jill Tuck (Betsy Russell). Thrown into the mix is BobbyDagen (Sean Patrick Flanery), a Jigsaw survivor now a self-help gurufor other Jigsaw survivors whose past hides a deadly secret, and hemust now save himself and others close to him when he is forced tocomplete another maze full of deadly tricks & traps. Meanwhile, adetermined detective named Gibson (Chad Donnella) tries to locate AgentHoffman and save Dagen before time runs out.

Series newcomer Kevin Greutert has the distinction of allowing "Saw 3D"to go out on a good note, and bring the series to a great closer. Thismovie is a bloody one, probably the bloodiest in the entire series andyou can tell that a significant investment was made by Lionsgate tosecure a firm hold on Hollywood's fake-blood supply.

This movie also has some of the nastiest traps ever devised by Jigsawor any of his followers. Two really stand out to me: the first involvesa very-public love triangle in which two hapless suitors have to choosebetween their love of a very promiscuous young woman, or freeingthemselves of her unjust influence. The second features Evan (LinkinPark front-man Chester Bennington), a neo-Nazi skinhead whose arms andback have been glued to the driver's seat of his car and he must freehimself in order to save his girlfriend and two buddies. Needless tosay, both of these traps serve up the gory goodies.

The last two "Saw" films, while engaging and frightening, showed signsthat the series was running low on ideas and torture devices, yet italso displayed that it could possibly go on for at least two more filmsor perhaps forever - who knows? - and we'd never be rid of this series. But "Saw 3D" shows that the few ideas that were left were good ones andthe series has hopefully, finally, been brought to a great close.

8/10

P.S.: For the record, I'm not sure I really believe "Saw" is trulyover.

This movie had nothing to offer. Just a bunch of sadistic scenes withthe worst story line ever, made for people who just want to see someguts splattered all over the floor that being their highest level ofunderstandable entertainment they could enjoy. The traps were so stupidand so easy to pass by a normal person that you needed an actor whocould be very good to play such a stupid character. Each trap can besolved in how much time you need if you just don't listen to the stupidtape and the last scene you can just put your feet around the chain andpull yourself up. This movie is a waste of money, I want my money back!If you were expecting some clever genius killing people for a wellestablished reason in his point of view, it's not here. If you want tosee blood and body parts flying around and think it's such a hard thingto be done with today's equipment and only a misunderstood genius couldthink that blood and dead people is something that has a deepermeaning, go and enjoy.

Since the surprise hit "Saw" in 2004, there's been a sequel each year.I'm a huge fan of horror movies, and I absolutely love the "Saw"Franchise. Each sequel was a worthy addition to the original story. Ithought Part III and VI were the best sequels. Since the sixth one wasamazing, it's hard to beat that one with the final seventh installment. This time, it is in 3D. Just to cash in on the 3D hype, because let'sface it; it's pointless and adds nothing to the movie.

You won't get bored with the story; the pace is on an all time highwith a maximum of traps and gory deaths. There are some thrilling andexciting traps, but some have a very "seen it all before" feeling.Well, it's already part 7 and quite frankly, there's no need foranother one after this. The story is not as surprising as the otherones; the ending does not have the ultimate 'wooow' factor and theactions of some characters are not completely rational (I'm not givingaway the ending here..)

Very limited screen time for Tobin Bell (Jigsaw\John Kramer) and Saw 3Dsees the long awaited return of Dr. Lawrence Gordon from the originalSaw: could have been better written.

In a nutshell: "Saw 7\3D" is an entertaining sequel that unfortunatelycan't cope with most of the Saw movies. It just isn't as strong when itcomes to surprising twists and jaw-dropping moments. The story and theinteresting characters gave the "Saw" movies the success and status, not just gory deaths. And that is a little forgotten in this finalinstallment. I love them all, but there's no need for Part VIII.
