I found this movie to be very down home. If you have ever lived abroadas a kid, at times it can be very scary. To be lonely and isolated in astrange country and cannot speak the language is a fearful thing.Although his mom loved him, she should have prepared him. But he didfind a friend and a mentor. They accepted him. I felt this movie shouldbe shone to kids no matter where you move to. Kids should know that nomatter where you live, there will always be someone there to challengeyou and you must learn to deal with it. Courage,strength,perseverance,and love is what this movie is about. Integrating some of the originalmovie scenes, this new movie has certain unique and dramatic flair.Irecommend this move to all young people.

When i see the title of the movie "karate kid" and after watching thetrailer, i wondered a film in which a men teaches a kid, then he goesto the tournament and wins. The story at the beginning seemed to belinear and some friends told me that was a lot of movies similar tothat and so i should choose another movie to see.

I haven't heard them at all, and i haven't also heard myself, so idecided to see the movie. What i saw it was a really good surprise. Thestory it was not linear as i thought. The love that Dre fell to thegirl; the psicologic part of the training; the way Dre meets histrainer; Dre fighting not to win but only to not have scare are thingsthat we don't found easily in this kind of movies! In this one that wasall into it, and i can say that "karate" our Kong-Fu is only a part ofthe story, it is not all of it, what is a very good thing.

This movie could be easily a fail, but it wouldn't, and it gave to me140 pleasant minutes.

The original Karate Kid was a sleeper hit that I loved as a teenager. Istill enjoy the original as an adult, so I looked forward to this. Iwasn't disappointed overall, but there were some minor flaws that I wasable to overlook. In short, the acting saved the day.

Since audiences have seen so many more martial arts films over the pastfew years, it's refreshing to see some really awesome martial arts inthis film. The problem is that it's a little too unrealistic. I've seenthe Beijing team perform and it's hard to imagine these moves withoutsome editing, particularly towards the end of the film. And Jaden Smithbeing a master of certain moves in such a short time is more farfetched than the original. Daniel learned some basic blocks and kicksin a few months, here this kid looks like a 10 year Wushu veteran afterthe same amount of time. There are some other elements that don't makesense if you think about them; how does someone move from projects inDetroit to an international job in Beijing? Don't think about it toomuch, you might miss the good parts.

Jaden Smith's acting is tremendous for a rookie. He plays his role likea pro. He's likable, believable and he doesn't exaggerate. He workswell with Jackie Chan, who plays a role that's quite dramatic for him.I'm still a little disappointed with Jackie's character. There is amoment where he seems a little too afraid and weak to be a martial artsmaster. It's good that they don't make him indestructible but heshouldn't be cowardly. In the original when Mr. Miyagi confronts theCobra Kai leader there's a tension in the scene that makes everyonewonder who would win the fight. Without revealing too much, in thismovie, it's clear who would win.

There's one scene that really disappointed me. In the original, PatMorita got nominated for a scene where he relives the lost memory ofhis wife dying giving birth while he was serving in the war. It's agreat scene because it's based in history. Yet the similar scene inthis movie is less believable. Jackie Chan's acting pulls it off, butit just doesn't work as well. And I was disappointed with how thatscene ended. Mr. Miyagi didn't state directly that he needed Daniel'sfriendship, but we in the audience came to that conclusion. In thismovie, they spell it out for us.

The acting between Smith and Chan, though, save the day. Throughout allof the other exaggerations or parts that just don't make much sense,you look forward to seeing these two work with each other. They carrythe movie to the end. It's worth seeing, but for me, once would beenough.
